Mehemed Fehmy Agha was an Ucranian designer that moved to USA in 1928. Became one of the greatest and most recognized dseigners. For instance, worked as an art director for Vogue and Vanity Fair.
Agha brought the european avant-garde into the editorial design trought illustration, photograpgy and typography. Was the first one using typography sans serif in the magazine’s text. A paint expert and also one of the firsts to introduce art works from Matisse, Derain, Covarrubias or Picasso into editorial. Since then, design stopped beeing just a decorative aspect of a magazine, becoming a very important and relevant functional element.
